CLICK TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND OFFER YOUR SUPPORT
Dear Friend,
Because of the generosity of individuals like you, Notes in Motion has been giving back to the community for twelve years. Giving to the arts really does make a difference! Through our two divisions – Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre and Outreach Dance Theatre – we have touched audiences with thought-provoking dance theatre productions and inspired over 7,500 NYC school children with vital arts education programs. During these rough economic times, arts are the first things to be cut from school budgets. In fact, many of our partner schools have lost their arts budgets entirely this year. This is why we need your action. The arts are an essential fabric of our culture. Reflecting and resonating the present, the arts create community. By making a tax-deductible contribution to Notes in Motion, you are helping to keep the arts alive both on the stage and in the schools.
On the stage – Inside New York: "Amanda Selwyn is a master at illustrating the symbiosis of sound and movement, the romance of motion and emotion – she had me laughing, crying, cringing and gasping all in the short 55-minute production." Provocative imagery, ideas, and emotions underscore the choreography. We strive to present this material in an immediate, mature, and inclusive way that engages our audiences from start to finish and beckons a response of thought, feeling, and soul. We seek out organic discoveries, raw and uninterrupted, to let movement flow from momentum and physical sensation. We aspire to uplift, inspire, exhilarate, and create a community of support.
In the schools – Outreach Dance Theatre, a vendor of the NYC Department of Education, offers arts education programs that foster self-discovery, risk-taking, and making connections between the arts and different areas of study. We are working closely with our growing list of school partners that include PS 78 Bronx, PS 63 Manhattan, The Academy for Young Writers Brooklyn, and The Bronx Charter School for the Arts. Feedback from our programs has been phenomenal. A classroom teacher at PS 78 said: “I found that after dance, the students are more enthusiastic about continuing the business of education in other subject areas."
In order to fund for this year’s exciting programs and to develop strategic plans for the future, we need your help. As a 501(c)3 organization, all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. With your donation in any amount, you can see to it that the arts thrive.
Sincerely,
Amanda Selwyn
